Also, what is the difference between this and FA (Food Addicts in Recovery)? It seems like there is more on-line support here and I need all the support I can get. I am looking for someone who is a recovering bulimic. I had over 2 years of recovery in FA and broke using artificial sweeteners and have been struggling for the past 3 months. It's really hard to stay physically active and not have a grain in my diet and I keep breaking unless I go back to the fake sweeteners and then I break anyways. Is anyone available to help?

Hi Jgapcz4,

Welcome to FAA. I'm glad that you're finding the Online Support area of FAA helpful, and I sure hope you'll find a sponsor that feels right for you. There's a good post on how to find an FAA sponsor in the announcement section of some of the forums. The direct link to that post is:

I've spoken with some members in FAA who came from FA and didn't have grains in their food plan, according to their FA sponsor's directions. In FAA, there is a suggested food plan that everyone can see and it does have grains in it. I personally feel healthy, slow-acting carbohydrates are essential to us and they work well when balanced with protein (which the FAA food plan does). The food plan can be viewed here:

Best wishes, Jgapcz4. Keep coming; this program definitely does work!

I can't help you with the comparison of the two programs, as I am only familiar with FAA. However, I do remember, that there are other places where I have seen posts concerning different programs. I just know that this is the program that has changed my life, and I am forever greatful. I would recommend going to lots of meetings of various types, and this will help you to identify with others who are sharing their experience, strength and hope. Compile a list of phone numbers, and give yours as well. Soon you will feel ready when it is the right time to ask someone to be your sponsor. Don't give up if you are turned down the first time you ask. keep trying. There are forums and information about sponsorship, not only, on online support, but also on the website information from the hope page, possibly under the tools of recovery. Glad you are here, and keep coming back.

That's a great webpage on the FAA website on sponsorship. Here's a direct link to it for anyone that might be interested:
