I am on my sixth abstinent day.FAA is new to me but I know it is what will save me from myself. I am at a conference fr 5 days . I have prepared as well as possible for this ( paced each weighed and measured meal in a baggie, ordered a fridge and microwave, and bought a mini blender for my yogurt. I am following the food and program plan I committed to my sponsor . There are no meetings here in Gettysburg ! I am afraid of my weakness.
Please send me some words of encouragement and support!

Welcome to FAA, Mflanagan!

Congratulations on Day 6; that is wonderful! And that you had to go to a conference so soon into your new abstinence... yikes! But it sounds like you're doing really well. You have a sponsor you've reported and committed your food to (this is a HUGE help to me!) and you brought your prepared meals with you. Ever since I've been abstinent, I will only get a motel/hotel room with not only the refrigerator but also a microwave, as you've done. I've found that I can really "do" my meals well with these appliances, and then I just wash up my dishes in the bathroom sink after I eat.

Have a good conference, Mflanagan. Your experience is going to give your something that you yourself can share with another FAA member in the future. It works well, that we can learn from each other the way we do. I'd suggest also getting onto a phone meeting (or two or three) during the conference. The support you'll feel from that will be amazing, and you can also get some phone numbers of recovering FAA members (at the end of the meetings) to call in case you run into trouble and can't reach your sponsor.

You're doing this! Yay!!!

Warmly,

Hi Mflanagan,

Just a quick note to say Hi and check in with you to see how you're doing at the conference. I hope you're doing well and finding things all right with maintaining your abstinence.

Hi, Mflanagan,
I am glad you are sharing your experience with us here on the online support forums. Reaching out is key to our recovery, just as sharing our e/s/h. Congratulations on your abstinence so far and for the way you have stepped up to be prepared for attending the conference. I am also glad to be able to connect and say hello, and welcome. Possibly the encouragement of a continous daily sharing here will help in keeping on track, doing that next right think. Stay in the moment, and the connection of the meetings should also be a big help.
Take care,
