Feeling miserable after two days of sugar/flour, still arguing in my head about whether or not this is a disease, blaming myself because I know I can stop eating this junk any time I really want to (sure I can), feeling like a fool for being right back where I started 3 months ago...and yet grateful to be here in FAAland....knowing all of you are out there....knowing my HP is still there caring for me....knowing recovery is possible....praying tonight to be willing...to get the sweet taste of sugar and flour out of my head....just like a drug, just like the alcohol that kept me a slave most of my life....this is a good place to be right now.....have I had enough sugar yet??? I hope so, so I can start over...back on a healthy path for me. My best to all of you.

I argued for a year and a half about whether I had the disease or not. I finally decided to "act as if" I did have the disease. It really helped to make that assumption. Then I wasn't chasing my tail about it...yes...no...yes....no. I just did what my sponsor told me to do: Follow the food plan as written for 30 days. I also started to journal, and that was an amazing help. I've worked through some big blocks by writing and giving the burden to HP. And I drink a lot of water to wash out the toxins. Thanks for reading. Linda

Thanks for sharing your good message , Linda.
Forgot about water and getting the toxins out, like sugar. And acting "as if".....good idea....I'VE EATEN ALL OF THIS FOOD BEFORE, IT'S NOTHING NEW.......WHAT DO I THINK IT'S GOING TO DO FOR ME??? IT ONLY MAKES ME FEEL CRAPPY....maybe sometimes we just have to remind ourselves that we aren't really missing anything at all.

I remember a slogan: "Nothing looks as good as abstinence feels" I do like slogans and sayings, as well as acronymns.
On a funnier note I also remember having a cross-stitch picture, from many years past, (it is a hippo licking an ice cream cone, and says:
"once on the lips - forever on the hips" I often find myself taking a second look at the framed piece of art from my past.

I'm still the hippo, unfortunately, 3 days off sugar. 2 or 3 days on, but learning every day

WHY DO WE EAT SO MUCH, UNTIL WE FEEL SICK? WHY...DOESN'T EVEN TASTE GOOD AFTER AWHILE, DOES IT?
