I live with my mom, my step dad, and my daughter. They are all very supportive but just don't really seem to understand what the deal is with being addicted to food. My daughter came in tonight wanting me to taste some of her mint fudge that my step dad bought her...UGH! Did I taste it...of course! I can't NOT taste something when it is put in my face like that. Not yet at least. And then when she left house, leaving the fudge on the table in front of me, I cut off another chunk hoping she wouldn't notice. CRAZY! I am stealing my daughter's fudge! Anyway, I try to make them understand that they just can't bring it around me but they just don't get it. And them my mom things I will be 'restricting to much out of my diet' if I eat like this. "No diet works if there are things you can't eat" she says. I just don't know what to do. I am not sure if I can do it with them around me. What do I do?!?

Dear Dawn

Oh you are struggling, poor love.

This isn't a diet, it is a way of life that will help you break free from your addictions to flour/sugar/wheat and live a healthy clean life.

Your family don't seem to accept that you feel you are addicted to those substances and they have resulted in your current state.

Could you explain it in the terms of an alcoholic having to cut that substance completely out of their life, even a taste likely to trigger the addiction into full action again?

Have you got the newcomers pack? There is such a huge variety of foods that we can have, honestly never a reason to go hungry. Perhaps if you look through it with your Mother and show her some of the personal stories on here she will see that this is something she can feel able to support you in so that you can feel good.

Keep coming here and just take one day, even half a day, at a time.

Very best wishes,

Victoria xx

Praying to stay clean today.
