I am new, just registered right now and am eagerly anticipating this meeting!
I'm trying to get familiar with this program and how to communicate with one another?
Oh well, I've been trying to get my eating in order and I'm looking for suggestions on how to begin?
At this point I've managed to reach a couple of guys and I've spoken to them briefly, but I am not sure what I should be doing as far as accountability with my food consumption??
I will say that I am encouraged just by sharing and reading others testimonies, it helps me to realize that I am not alone and there are others who are having success as well as struggles with this "Food Addiction."
I'm currently weighing about 350 and at about 6 feet, and I look forward to getting my eating in order because for me I believe so much hinges on my weight. I've been sober from drugs and alcohol for going on eight years this Jan. But I've come to realize food is my new drug!
With everyone's help I'm sure I can do this, so thanks for the encouragement!
Blessings to all, and may you all find the strength to say NO to that desire to "feeding your flesh" beyond what it needs to make it through each day! Resist compulsive eating, and it shall go away!! Or haven't you heard that "we will become slaves to whatever we give into!"
Sorry, I'm preaching to myself.

Welcome newcomers to FAA!
If you're a food addict like I am, you have come to the right place, because there is a solution here for that. There's a great page on the website to help you get an idea if you, too, might be a food addict. You can follow this link to see it:

If you think you might be a food addict, then I'd suggest getting to some meetings as soon as possible. You can also look at the food plan. In FAA, we are biochemically addicted to sugar/flour/wheat IN ALL THEIR FORMS and following the food plan gives us a healthy and balanced way of eating without having to ingest s/f/w any longer. Not having s/f/w is called abstinence, and it opens the door to recovery. By also working the Twelve Steps of Food Addicts Anonymous, we can recover from food addiction! Here's the food plan link:

You can find information on meetings on FAA's Home Page under Meetings.
You're right... you are NOT alone. And you never have to be alone again! Join us the journey, we're glad you're here, both of you.

Great question, Andy! In Food Addicts Anonymous, we recommend getting a sponsor for yourself to assist you in your abstinence and also in your recovery through the 12 Steps. What we do is plan our food (I plan mine at night for the next day) by writing it out. There's a really good tool for this available called Annual Menu Planner & Journal. You can find it here:
http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/catalog/2
If you prefer to have it immediately, it is available as a PDF file which you can print out at home:
http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/catalog/13
After planning our food, we report what we are having to our sponsor. When we do this, we are also committing to our sponsor that that is what we will have. Since we are actually promising to eat those particular foods, we let our sponsor know of any changes we might need to make. This keeps us honest and accountable... two assets helpful for food addicts to attain and maintain abstinence.
There's a Newcomer's Open Chat on Friday nights at 9pm Eastern time in the FAA Chat Room. Come with any questions... abstinent FAA members with time in recovery are there each Friday night to answer the questions. This is also a nice chance to meet some fellow food addicts who are sharing the journey with you. To get to Open Chat, follow this link and click on the picture of the computer:

Keep coming, keep sharing, Andy!
