Silk Soy Milk (even the unsweetened, no sugar added one) is not OK for abstinent food addicts. Here's something I just came across from another source who contacted the manufacturer about the natural flavors listed in the ingredients in the Unsweetened Silk Soy Milk:
What natural flavors and flavorings do you use in Silk products?
The natural flavors listed in our ingredient panels are derived from
natural sources – nothing artificial is used. The natural flavors do
not contain any animal ingredients. They are free of dairy, eggs, MSG,
rye, oats, barley, malt and wheat. Our natural flavors are carried in a
gluten-free, corn-based alcohol.
Alcohol is not something food addicts can safely have. Alcohol can be found on the list of sugars that trigger cravings in food addicts.
Westsoy Soy Milk is OK. The ingredients are:
filtered water, whole organic soybeans
Edensoy Organic Soy Milk is OK as well, same ingredients as the Westsoy brand.
Westsoy and Edensoy will not found in the refrigerated section of your grocery store, but rather can be found on the shelves with the regular groceries.
Also, just as a caution to newcomers: Whenever you see "natural flavorings" in the ingredient list, be very cautious. Find out from the manufacturer exactly what the natural flavorings consist of. If the manufacturer won't give you the information, claiming that it's a proprietary recipe or some language to that effect, it's best to not have that product. As is said in the FAA literature: "When in doubt, leave it out."
