I was afraid of that. This is going to be harder than i thought.

I understand. We all have come to FAA with our favorite foods and letting go of the ones that aren't in our best interest as food addicts isn't always easy. But we're here for each other and you can know that anyone with time in abstinence and recovery has gone through exactly what you're going through right now, Jul. What's nice about knowing that is that you're not alone in this, not at all... and the other nice thing is knowing that if we can do it (and, speaking just for myself, I was a hopeless & helpless food addict!), then so can you!![]()
Keep coming, keep sharing. One day at a time...one meal at a time.

Thanks for the help and encouragement!!
You're so welcome. I hope you're doing well these past few days, julbrown2.
Best, best wishes!

Thank you,
do you have any other vegetarian recipies?
Hi virtuouswoman,
Yes, there's a thread for vegetarian recipes in the Abstinent Recipes forum here in Online Support:
http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/...tarian-Recipes
Also, I didn't personally try the hummus recipe I posted, but I have tried this one and it's very nice:
1 c chick peas *
1/2 T toasted sesame oil
1 T lemon juice
1 T Bragg's **
garlic powder (or fresh garlic)
chili powder (optional)
3 T water
===============
Blend in the blender and serve with TWO CUPS of raw veggies. (Note: When we have 2 c of raw veggies at one meal, we'd have 2 c of cooked veggies at the other meal that day.) You can also drizzle the hummus over stir-fried veggies, but I haven't tried that yet.
* If using canned chick peas, be sure to rinse them very well to get that starchy "stuff" off
** Bragg's tastes similar to soy sauce and can be found at health food stores. I get mine at Whole Foods Market. Soy sauce has wheat in it. We can have tamari instead, but the only tamari I've found has alcohol in it, which is on the "sugar list"
what about these new chips i found. they are made with stone ground white corn. no flour? they are rw garcia veggie tortilla chips!!
Yikes, anything that even sounds or looks like chips, would probably lead me back into non-abstinent food. A little scarry for me at this time, as I am a food addict. I do remember how much and how often my hand was back in the bag or container even when I practiced putting the lid on or even putting it away. I do realize there are foods that might not have s/f/w out there but are not on the food plan. I believe some call them gray foods. I think the reason they are not on our written out plan is for reasons such as higher fat content, more salty, triggers and so on...
The rule of thumb that I follow is that I eat foods from the food plan as it is written. (no ifs, ands, or buts.) Also I like to remember "when in doubt, leave it out. This is me just sharing my thoughts and my opinion.

Another problem with many of the foods mentioned is that they are high in fat and the ham is high in salt...these can be triggers..the information in the beginner's pkt does explain this a bit and much more can be found on the web. I wan't really convinced about the influence that salt had on my well being till I really began following my Mom's heart healthy recommendations for salt - it made a difference for me.
So I found some peanut butter that has no added sugar only from organic peanuts...can I eat even just a tablespoon with my rice cakes?
