    clean foods

I have seen recipes that call for "clean food" like mayo and yogurt. Does this mean sugar free? I have looked all through the store and it seems like all yogurts have sugar. Help!!!!

Yes, "clean" means it has no form of sugar/flour/wheat that is addictive for food addicts. The lists of those s/f/w ingredients can be found here:
    http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/faa-food-plan

Dannon plain yogurt (either nonfat or low-fat) is clean. There are some brands of plain Greek yogurt that are clean also. "Light" or even "sugar-free" yogurt is never actually free of at least some form of sugar, so none of the flavored yogurts work.

Trader Joe's mayo is clean, as is Duke's. I've heard that Duke's can be found in stores in some areas of the country as well as online. It comes in small packages that you can carry with you for eating out.

You're welcome. Duke's is a chain of stores in the southeastern U.S. The name of their mayonnaise is also "Duke's", which you can purchase online:

Trader Joe's is a grocery store which can be found in many areas of the country. You can go to the website and see if there's a store near you:

    Good luck!

Here are some other clean alternatives:
Lemonnaise (really wonderful!), carried at Whole Foods and other health food stores:http://www.amazon.com/Ojai-Cook-Lemonaise-oz-jar/dp/B0007MUM6S
be careful--the lemonnaise full fat flavor is clean as is the Latin Lemonnaise but the other flavors are not.

Chobani plain yogurt--higher in protein than regular yogurts and really satisfying:http://www.chobani.com/products/c/nonfat
The plain nonfat example is the third one down on this page. I have found these at regular supermarkets as well as health food stores.

Some other products that have shared with me from people in our fellowship. The best thing to do is put in a search to fine the website and get any information available These are brands of clean ricotta cheese:

    Calabro
    Maggio
    Hannaford

Please share any other possibilities. Sometimes we just have to work a little bit harder to find what we are looking for, especially if not acessible in our area. we don't know without checking or asking.

Yogurt will have some naturally occurring sugars. The best thing to do is ensure there is no sugar (or form of sugar in the list of ingredients). i agree that plain Greek yogurt is the best--Chobani and Fage 0% are both good. I have never found a flavored yogurt that does not have added sugar--even if it says sugar free.

    Alert!

I found out recently that a company has changed the ingredients in the yogurt that I had been using. I was using the non-fat plain and the low-fat plain Kroger brand in the 32 oz. container. Also is called Blended. The container comes in two shades of orange or peachy color. So far I still can get the low-fat one that is clean but they have made changes to the non-fat. At first adding modified corn starch, and even later adding dextrose as well and possibly seems like something else as well. I did call the company. There is usually a website, or phone number on most products. And they appreciated my concerns and said they would look into it.

Again just that faithful reminder for continueing to check ingredients not just once in awhile but every time we pick up something off the shelf in a store. Just for today I choose life and abstinence.
