Hi everyone. First let me congratulate everybody who is remaining abstinent or is on their path to becoming abstinent. It is so great to finally find a (active) forum for food addiction.
I have lost 80 lbs but recently have been gaining it back and have gone back to being addicted to food. I figure it is time for a drastic plan, so I am going to follow the food plan of total abstinence. I am already cranky as hell because I know I am going to lack (ironically) what helped me lose weight before: caffeine and no-calorie sweetener. I also am going to sorely miss alcohol even though I never had problems with it, as I did enjoy a good drink once and a while.
Well, I am off as I have some research to do. I have quite a few questions about the food plan I need to find out. (No wheat, however buckwheat and rye are allowed?)
Welcome to FAA, iJuggle! So glad you're here. I have been able to reach a healthy weight and maintain it for over a year so far by following the suggested FAA food plan. By eating that way, I am automatically NOT ingesting any form of sugar/flour/wheat into my body as long as I follow the plan and check food product labels carefully.
That's correct, wheat is an addictive and toxic substance for food addicts. Buckwheat and rye are fine. There's a list of the various forms of s/f/w to avoid, as well as the food plan itself with the Guide to Abstinence, here:

There's also an Open Chat for Newcomers tonight in the FAA Chat Room at 9pm Eastern. It's a great place to ask any questions you have and also get a chance to meet informally with other food addicts, both new and with some time in FAA. Here's the link to the Chat Room:

As arleneh8745 mentioned, there will also be a beginner's online meeting tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am Eastern in the same Chat Room and another online meeting there every Sunday at 1pm Eastern. FAA also has face-to-face meetings, phone meetings, and the FAA Loop (a 24/7 Internet meeting):

What has also helped many others new to FAA is to spend some time here in Online Support reading posts and posting questions of you own. Welcome, and keep coming, iJuggle!![]()
Well, I made it to my 30 days yesterday and my weigh in showed a weight loss of a whoopin 15.5 lbs! whohoo! I am now fitting back into my old sized 18 jeans. My hubby hugged me the other day and told me I felt skinny. haha but that was super sweet of him!! I am going to stick to it, it isn't bad at all and I am almost never hungry!
congrats sheila....its wonderful that your husband noticed. i,m at day one. have sponsor, scale, food plan. all in order. i know one day i will be crazed with frustration or anxiety. how handle that. food has always been there for me.
Hi, SUENJ......FAA will be here for you./...reach out when you get frustrated or anxious, meetings are easy to find, the FAA loop, sometimes chat room, post a note and usually someone will answer soon....talk to your HP if you have one....think good hopeful thoughts....there really is hope and once you get that stuff out of your system you will feel much better and not have the same cravings for more and more....keep coming back....... : )
