Thanks everyone for all of the input concerning constipation. Isn't it wonderful that we can come here into this online support and bring up just about any question and then know that we are going to be given a variety of what works for others. Thanks once again for FAA, and for each one that comes here to the online support and answers as well as ask questions.

It's unfortunately a real part of the program...bec of all the veg and fruits, which are wonderful for us but our body goes into shock, know what I mean, so it does take some adjustment time.... when I first put this question up, I didn't know there would be so much response, it's kind of funny really.

The food plan warnings about not changing your diet radically without a doctor's consent and about GOING ON THE VEG AND FRUIT THING SLOWLY SO YOUR BODY CAN ADJUST TO IT IS VERY IMPORTANT......it's a great food plan but big diet changes can be a shock to your digestive system and slow is better for some of us.....have dropped lettuce, switched to all cooked veg for now, less raw fruit and bingo, life is great again, but I'm 72, so maybe it's not a problem in general.... thank God for FAA, their guidance, the food plan.

Once, while on the food plan, I was having yogurt a lot (not rotating my dairy choices, as it recommends in The Guide to Abstinence), and I got gassy from that. Once I stopped eating yogurt twice a day, almost every day, things calmed down. Also, beans can cause gas when your system isn't used to them. Soaking them adequately before cooking helps to take care of the gas problem, as does eating beans often enough for our systems to get used to them.

Anyone who has health problems should definitely check with a sponsor or physician. Here's what is read at meetings:

    ADDITIONS TO THE FOOD PLAN
Very active, extremely overweight, petite, vegetarians, or those with specific medical issues may need to make modifications to the food plan with the assistance of a physician or a sponsor. The food plan as it is written is only a suggestion, and has helped many, many people.
