    Corn Meal

Hi - New here. Is corn meal permitted as an abstinent eater? Thanks.

You will probably find there are many varied opinions in the way that members interpret the food plan. My opinion is keep it simple, If it is listed on the food plan, I eat it, and if it is not then I don't. That is the best way for me to keep up with everything and also I remember on of the slogans that is "When in doubt, leave it out."

Others are welcome to share their thoughts and/or suggestions on the same question.

I personally was taught by my sponsor to abstain from corn meal, and have heard from many other FAA members that they also abstain from it. For that reason, I would recommend against it for now, until you have your sponsor and can check with her, Jackie. I've been very happy and content with the wide variety of grains available on the suggested FAA food plan, and haven't become bored with the way I eat. What worked well for me was to focus on what I COULD have, rather than on what I "couldn't" have. Of course, you can have anything you want (really!), but corn meal isn't on the suggested FAA food plan.
