    Jump back on the wagon!

So you've slipped and eaten some of the junk again, we're all human, don't beat yourself up, just get up and jump back on the wagon.....the hardest part is getting through the first week or so ....old habits are hard to break, whether it's staying away from fast food drive-throughs (my weakness), not going down THAT aisle in the supermarket, or picking up food people bring in at work....but once the poison is out of your system, the cravings will stop.....it will happen.....believe.......turn to FAA online for support.....go to phone meetings, post on the message boards, pray, read the literature....you don't have to do it alone...and every morning is a fresh start.....one day at a time.

Thank you Marilyn. I had 7 beautiful days of abstinence and on my 8th day I messed up... big time and what do ya know my disease had progressed :( or at least it had progressed that day. I am back on the straight and narrow again, just for today. At least this time it didn't take me many months to rein in the beast. I am grateful for another chance at recovery. Its so annoying, I went to a meeting the morning of my slip (my first one back since my disease took over) and no members were there so I had my own meeting (including readings!) figured it was the right thing to do as I'm there for me. I believe my higher power and lots of angels were in the empty seats anyways :) but then that night I slipped, so annoying!! I'm a bit disgusted in myself but I guess I've learned a valuable lesson and hopefully this time around I'll do better. JUST FOR TODAY!!!

    Hi M,
I am in the same boat as you . . . I was 43 days in to abstinence and then I fell off the bandwagon. It was so frustrating to me! I didn't know what to do, I literally felt lost. The only thing I could do though was pick up and start again. Keep working on today! :)

Hi, Mandy, congratulations on 43 days of abstinence, that's huge. You are right, we are all human and will slip...but getting right back up is the thing....keep coming back and don't beat yourself up...it's one day at a time, every day is a fresh start

    Don't quit, no matter what!

I love this saying, "Don't quit, no matter what". We read it at every phone meeting, and it always gives me so much hope. It says to me that if I were to slip or relapse even, that I'm worth the effort to keep trying. I pray that, a day at a time, I am able to remain abstinent. But I also know that I am welcome in FAA no matter what. And that is true for us all. Thank goodness for the loving acceptance we find here!

Thank you, everyone, for the encouraging shares. I've really been struggling lately. Wow, this addiction is fierce and relentless. I'm trying to get back on track myself. Just now, I was in the kitchen preparing myself some wrong food, and then I stopped, remembering how miserable I was about to make my day and was able to throw it in the trash. I made a hot mug of lemon water instead, and here I am reading your shares and trying to do the "next right thing."

Thanks for being there. Have a great day.
