Need a Sponsor in Northern Indiana. Please help!
Hello, I am fairly new to FAA. I started in July 2011 and thought I could do his by myself. Ha, was I wrong. I did well to start, but then in late September I had a death in my family and looked for comfort in food and haven't gotten back on track yet. I have had some great weeks, but nothing that sticks. I would appreciate someone's guidance, honesty and friendship. Thanks for the help!

best way to find a sponsor
The best way to find a sponsor is to get to as many meetings each week as you can. When you hear someone share on something that you relate to, then take down their name and number - they share their contact info the last 5 minutes of the meetings (most last around an hour and some go a bit longer). They also answer questions that last 5 minutes. I always take down the leader's name and number because they need at least two weeks of abstinence to lead the meeting.
And it's ok to ask a few simple questions to get to know them better when you call them, such as - how long have you been in FAA? how did you find your sponsor? do you have any tips for a newcomer or someone just getting started? what did you eat for breakfast? do you have any favorite recipes? are you sponsoring others? what do you expect from your sponsees? - can tell so much from how they answer a few simple questions.
The way I found my sponsor was to pray for guidance from my Higher Power and when I felt that gentle nudge to take the action to contact someone, I just took that deep breath and did it and I feel blessed by those who have taken the time and effort to sponsor me.

Thank you for the insight. There is a new meeting in my area, I have gone, but there are only a couple people at this time that are "regular". I will continue going but was hoping for something more.
