Newby - Would like a sponsor

I have been abstinent for 2 weeks now and really need a sponsor. I have listened to one sometimes more phone meetings a day and having trouble getting much response from calls I make. By that I mean, I leave messages and do not get many returned calls. I, however, only started making phone calls last Friday. Several years ago I was involved with another 12 step food fellowship and did well until I had a break. The break turned into a full out food frenzy. I am now back to being a very ill, low self-esteem, humble mess. However, I do feel good about getting back into the swing of things. I truly love the food, I know that by eating it I will soon be my healthy self again. I love being in touch with my higher power, whom I call God. I love the phone meetings.
I am not in a place where there are live meetings and I am trying to reach for the phone more. If someone could help me, even if only on a temporary basis, I would be very appreciative. I know I am a food addict. Susanp

You can ask at the end of phone meetings if anyone is available to sponsor on a temporary basis. And when you introduce yourself as a newcomer, you can mention that you are two weeks abstinent and need a sponsor. Many people love to reach out to newcomers especially when they know the newcomer will welcome their phone calls.

I hope that you are signed up for the FAALoop - a 24/7 Loop meeting on the yahoo/groups. A search for it on the web should take you to the page where you register. I found all of my sponsors on the Loop meeting - this program really does work ok by email and phone calls.

Hi Susan,
