Kimberly,
I knew as soon as I found the FAA website that I had come home and that I had my answer to the yo yo dieting. I didn't have any doubts about being a food addict and actually felt like I was let off the hook when I read that FAA believes that food addiction is a bio-chemical reaction in the brain when sugar, flour or wheat is eaten. The newcomer's pkt explains more about this and is available in PDF format for immediate download for those in the US. Those outside the US need to call the World Service Office as this website isn't set up yet to receive international monies - thanks for being patient with us as we work out the bugs.
I stopped feeling like a bad person because I couldn't say no to a cookie or just push back from the table like those around me had advised. They didn't understand because they could eat one cookie or part of a cookie and wrap up the other half and have it later. I never could do that - once I had something with sugar in it, I just wanted more and more of it till it was all gone.
And I've learned at meetings that it's that wanting more and more of something is the hallmark of addiction. Today I can ask my Higher Power who I choose to call God for help with my food and my life and I'm so grateful for this 2nd chance at life.

Hello Kimberly,
Welcome to Food Addicts Anonymous. Welcome home we have been waiting for you and are glad you are with us on our journey to recovery.
This is a we program. We need the loving help and support of one another. United we stand divided we fall. Sponsorship is one of the tools of our program, It was suggested to me when I came here to attend 90 meetings in 90 days...that was a long while ago and I haven't missed a day since. I need the meetings they are my medicine. After the meeting we ask questions and give out phone numbers, please collect numbers then make out reach calls from those who may be experiencing what you are experiencing or those whom you can relate to, and most important listen with an open mind and keep coming back. Here is a link to the phone meeting times and numbers.

Even this is mine first time as well! Let's see how it goes here, would love to make the things better!
Hi, my name is Bre, and I am sooooooo tired of dieting. My husband says I've been dieting since he met me, which was almost 2 years ago. That was a huge red flag, especially since I've been gaining weight since then.
I need some help. I need some short and concise instructions. I suffer from acute anxiety and ADD and, thus, am completely overwhelmed with all of the literature. I'm so stressed out over it that my mind won't even allow me to begin.
Someone, please help me. I'm not obese, but I'm slowly killing myself..........these binges and carbs and sugars just have to be the reason I feel so awful and helpless.

Theres a list of phone meetings here. They saved my life when i first got abstinent. I did not have anyone else here doing the food plan and i needed guidance. I got numbers and found a sponsor who showed me and guided me through understanding the food plan. I was also add and full of anxiety and alot of that went away after getting abstinent. thats my suggestion go to a phone meeting get phone numbers of other women that are abstinent and let them guide you. Be good to yourself. You are the only one you got. In turn i know you will help alot of people you already helped me. Thanks!
Joshua
Hi Bre and welcome. You are in the right place.
I would suggest you attend meetings. If you live near face to face meetings, attend those. If not, you can attend phone meetings. Here are links ot both of those:
