    Re: compulsive eating or addiction?

    Welcome to FAA, Carol,

There is an online beginner's meeting on Saturday at 11am Eastern (4pm in London, England). It's held in the FAA chat room on this website. Just choose meetings from the home page and then online meeting from the drop down list. Click on the icon of the computer and the chat room should load. If it doesn't, then please check the Java software on your machine at java.com. That website will tell you if you need an up date.

    Hope to see you there.

    Welcome to FAA, Carol!

I'm so glad you've found us. Me too, I've been all over the spectrum of food addiction, from nearly dying (literally) of starvation and malnutrition, to morbid obesity. A yo-yo dieter for years, etc.

I found what I was looking for here in Food Addicts Anonymous... I found the solution to food addiction! We have members from all over the world attending phone meetings. I hope you'll be able to join us. The schedule and phone number to use are here:

    http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/phone-meetings

Also, FAA has a suggested food plan that has helped many, many people. You can see it here:

    http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/faa-food-plan

Keep coming, keep sharing, Carol. You're not alone anymore!

    step3

P.S. I have a little Pomeranian, and for a nickname I sometimes call her "Little Miss Waggy Tail". So I do like the name of your special little dog! :D

Hi, I am Ginger. I live in Nashville, TN. I live with the love of my life, Sarah, my precious beagle/lab mix. I would like a friend in FAA. Would you be willing to email with me? I just realized yesterday that sugar was killing me. I am a recovering alcoholic, I have been sober 4 years now from alcohol, but, it is also sugar, and my sugar intake has climbed since kicking the alcohol habit... Basically, I have moved from the fat to the frying pan...

How have you been doing? What are your favorite things to do? I like read and write....

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Welcome to FAA, Ginger,

I'm sure that you will find many who will want to keep in touch with you by email. Might want to sign up for the FAALoop on the Yahoo/groups. It's a 24/7 online meeting with new leaders each Sunday and new topics each week. There are two online meetings each week. The saturday online meeting is at 11am Eastern and is the beginner's meeting and is followed by open chat where questions can be asked. The Sunday online meeting is at 1pm Eastern and uses the FAA meditation book, Food for the Soul. The topic varies for that meeting. There is an open chat on Friday night at 9pm Eastern in the FAA chat room on this website.

Wishing you all the best in your journey.

    Welcome to FAA, Ginger!

I'm so glad you've found us. The solution to food addiction is right here in Food Addicts Anonymous and I do thank goodness for that!

As the previous person said in her reply to you, the FAA Loop is a great way to meet people to exchange emails with and become friends with. When someone says something you like, you can send them a personal email. I've made FAA Internet friends this way, and some of them have become friends over the phone as well.

To sign up for the Loop, you can follow this link:

    http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/FAALoop/

Also, I've made a LOT of FAA phone friends. I am a real phone person, and I go to FAA phone meetings. During the last five minutes of the meeting, they exchange phone numbers. People write down the phone numbers and then FAA members, both new and with time in recovery, call each other. In FAA, these calls are called "Outreach Calls". Also, there might be a meeting in person near you, and meeting people in person is great as well. You can find more information about the various types of meetings here:

    http://www.foodaddictsanonymous.org/meetings

You're not alone anymore, Ginger. Best wishes on a happy and healthy recovery from food addiction!

    step3

P.S. If you'd like, you can send me a Private Message (which is an email for the FAA Online Support Forum). Just click on the pen and paper icon over to the right of this message. I would be happy to write back and forth with you, Ginger. :P

    Welcome to FAA, Carol,

Many who have food problems other than food addiction have found support in this fellowship. You'll hear them share at the phone meetings and you can ask for their phone numbers the last 5 minutes of the meeting.

Keep coming back, this way of life really does work.
