    Emotional Food Plan

    EMOTIONAL MEAL PLAN

    Appeals to our senses four times a day with these:

    Smell
    Touch
    Visual
    Sound

    When we think or say negative things about ourselves, say out loud, “I take it back” then replace the negative thing you have said with a positive.

    To heal our body image and our ability to receive:
    • Each morning and/or at night
    use a special scented oil or body lotion and rub it lovingly on your body
    this appeals to our sense of touch and smell

    • To help us go to sleep
    light a scented candle, potpourri or incense
    play soft music or
    affirmation tapes in your own voice if possible.

    • At least once each day, please your inner child
    “ be in nature”
    with birds, flowers, clouds, water or animals
    buy the “kid” a treat
    get “petted”
    take a bubble bath
    get a massage

    • Try to do these things gently
    start with five minutes, use a small spoon, feeding gently,
    so you won’t be overwhelmed with goodness

    • Borrow words about yourself from someone who loves you
    ____________ says, “You are kind, smart handsome, beautiful, etc.

    • Look into the mirror and tell yourself the truth

    • This is as important as the foods you eat and is a way to
    increase the capacity for goodness in our emotional tummy

    Thank-you. I really needed to see that. I had forgotten to take the time to do these things. I had, at one point, been very very good at these things. And then, one by one, I let them go and with them, i let go of my abstinence. i am happy to have come across this.

    Thanks for the emotional food plan. A lot of great information. That will be another one that I will save in a file or folder of important information.

    I loved it! lately I have been using some perfume before going to bed and sometimes cream in my body and feel so much better when I do so.
    Sounds: when I m in contact with nature I feel so much better and I usually forget to do it
    Candle with a smell: love candles when I light them I feel more peacefull and can relax a little bit more.

    Thank you for ths tips, I have been in OA for 23 years but with a long interruption in between where I went back to some foods I would not eat in the begining of my recovery, so I end up eating between meals and return to OA in August last year when I have started my abstinence again.

    Oh, I love this emotional food plan you shared with us here. I find it very interesting and really merely full of enthusiasm because everyone needs it most especially in times of weary and troubled.
