Phone Meetings

If you are new to FAA meetings and FAA Phone Meetings, please consider the following phone etiquette:

1.  We ask that you please mute your phone by pressing *6 if you are not sharing. This will eliminate the outside noises. If you are new, questions are answered at the end of meetings, not during meetings.

2. Group discussion at FAA Meetings should be centered on experience, strength and hope relative to food addiction and recovery. We respect our members by refraining from cross talk, which is defined as offering advice or in any way commenting on an individual's share.  We encourage those individuals with personal questions or other considerations to speak with a sponsor or FAA member after the meeting.  Please direct your comments to the chair.

3. WELCOME TO NEWCOMERS-
If you are new to our program, we hope you will attend at least six meetings before you decide you don’t need any help or aren’t a food addict.  Ask questions, get phone numbers from those who say things you can relate to, try to listen with an open mind and keep coming back.  Please keep in mind that during the first stage of recovery withdrawal is a primary symptom.  Don’t quit--no matter what!  Get active, service helps us stay abstinent; it is easier to stay abstinent than it is to get abstinent.

4. LITERATURE
We encourage our members to read Twelve Step literature, as it is helpful in understanding addiction. However, in accordance with Tradition Four, we do not base our meetings on other Twelve Step literature.  We only use literature that is approved by Food Addicts Anonymous World Services. Food Addicts Anonymous must maintain unity so that all feel at home, no matter where they attend an FAA meeting. We have books, pamphlets, audio and videos to aid in our recovery.
